Long Term Sports Program can Help Children Control Anger and Aggression

We know that running can help children deal with emotional issues such as anger and depression. It can also help improve the cognitive functions of the brain. Recent research suggests that long term participation in some form of sports definitely improves a child's cognitive, emotional and behavioral well-being.

In a research study of almost 650 students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, Professors Tammie Ronen, Michael Rosenbaum from Tel Aviv University and Ph.D student Keren Shahar demonstrated that a long term program of various sports activities can increase self control and self discipline while decreasing feelings of aggression and anger in children.

Boys in the study seemed to have benefited most from the activities.
