Happiness is Being Fully Engaged

Happiness is being fully engaged in what you are doing. So says research showing that people are most satisfied when they are engaged in tasks make them focus on the moment - like making love, exercising or conversing. They are least happy when resting, sleeping , or when their minds are in a wandering state.

Even those thinking happy thoughts are found to be less happy than those fully engaged in what they are doing.

More power to the focused mind.

Yet, our appetite for the latest techno gadgets is killing our sense of focus. Perhaps we should put away our cellphone, ipad or whatever it is that takes us elsewhere.

At least for a few hours a day.
